SOUTH PASADENA – A 75-year-old woman who was fatally stabbed in a South Pasadena home was identified Friday, June 7.

The stabbing was reported around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at 820 Brent Ave., near Mission Street. South Pasadena Police Department officers responded to the home and found her, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Tracy Koerner told City News Service.

Susan Miller was pronounced dead at the scene from stab wounds to the upper body, the department reported.

It was unclear if Miller lived at the home. Her city of residence has not been disclosed.

The fatal stabbing was a rare occurrence in the relative suburb of South Pasadena, a city known for its charming homes and apartments that line quiet neighborhoods.

Neighbors in the area said they sometimes saw the woman and apparently the family who took care of her.

“She doesn’t move that much, but she waters the flowers,” said a neighbor, who identified himself only as James, adding that she is very cute.

He said there was some construction going on in the backyard of the house.

“Very low profile,” he said of her.

Investigators asked anyone with information about the case to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tipsters can contact Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or at lacrimestoppers.org.

A possible motive for the stabbing was unclear and there was no suspect information.

An investigation was ongoing.
