Brent Faiyaz is considered one of the best independent musicians in the music industry. In a new interview with Panelthe enigmatic multi-crafter detailed how he achieved massive success without the help of a major label.

The Columbia, Maryland-raised recording artist explained, “I had been independent for so long that I had unwittingly become a figurehead for people who were independent artists. So I’m like, nah, I can’t go to any label. So, (Steve) Stoute called me and said, “To hell with me at UM, I can give you the budget, let’s make this shake.” It was a no-brainer at the time.”

Later in the clip, Steve Stoute elaborated, “What he was looking for was a partner to provide him with the financial capital to get into other creative ventures, and because I own a creative advertising agency and as an entrepreneur serving a few industries . I think that was the synergy that brought us together.”

One fan said: “Staying independent is always my preference. Win or lose. Majorities cannot trade what is set aside.” Someone said, “Sometimes you just need someone to believe in the process.”

Faiyaz made other shocking remarks in his Black Music Month cover caption Panel Magazine. During their conversation, the To hell with the world The creator revealed that he initially didn’t know if it was “built for R&B singing.”

“I wasn’t really the type of guy to take my shirt off and show my abs (on stage), so I didn’t think I was right for it,” Faiyaz told the publication. “And (my manager), Ty, said, ‘It doesn’t have to be what you do.’ So I just took the stuff that I would rap about and put it in a way that I could sing.”

As for R&B, the ISO Supremacy founder described his place in the genre as “soulful and reality-driven.” The Grammy-nominated musician teased his retirement recently, but fans are hoping this magazine cover will lead to new music soon.
