Luke Humphries beats Michael van Gerwen to win 15th Premier League Darts night in Leeds – as it happened

“One of my greatest darts experiences”published at 22:39 May 9

Week 15 winner Luke Humphries speaking to Sky Sports: “I knew it was on me. I knew if we lost it would be #LeedsAreFallingApartAgain online!

“It’s a dream for me to play in front of this crowd. It’s not something I get too often, the crowd wanting me to win.

“This is one of my greatest darts experiences. My first major win would be my second, and the World Championship will always be up there. But this is my third.”

On I Predict A Riot, his new entrance song: “The song will remain.

“I wanted the Nathan Aspinall (Mr Brightside) song a year before I got it, but it’s getting to the point where I’m glad I didn’t get it because it suits him so well.

“I just wanted a song that suits me and I love Leeds.”

On winning at Leeds: “Tonight was an incredible feeling for me, to go ahead and win when the pressure was on, I’m really proud of that.”

When finding the form again: “I did my part, won three on the trot. I see everyone online saying “he has a patch off”.

“We’ll all have it, Luke’s had his, I’ve had mine – it’s only natural. All that matters is the climax on the night of the 17th.”

Focusing on finals night? “It’s the Euros at the weekend and next week I’ll want to win again but obviously I’ll focus more on the O2 because it’s massive money and to be Premier League champion would be massive for me.”

On Leeds in the play-offs: “I’ll be there to support them at Wembley if they get there.

“But I’m Leeds through and through and I’ll be rooting for them again next year in the Championship if that’s how it ends.”
