The Coventry firm has been named in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work list

A shipping company is on a successful journey after being named one of the best employers in the country. Sonihull, based at Westwood Business Park, Coventry, features in The Sunday Times Best Places To Work 2024 list.

The firm, which employs 27 people, makes products to prevent marine life from binding to ship hulls and helps ships become more fuel efficient. It made the list following a survey of companies to assess employee engagement, well-being and discretionary effort. Among the things Sonihull was praised for were encouraging role-switching and providing travel opportunities and taking staff suggestions into account.

Darren Rowlands, CEO and founder, said: “Looking after our people who make our company grow is essential.
“Having the right company culture, where all employees feel valued and listened to, has allowed us to attract and retain highly talented employees.

“We are delighted that The Sunday Times has recognized this by including us in their list alongside some incredible companies and we hope we can continue to feature in future lists.”

Sonihull, which won a King’s Award for Enterprise last year, uses products to emit ultrasonic sound waves on the ship’s hull to prevent marine life from binding to the surface and reduce fuel efficiency. It means that toxic biocidal coatings, which are traditionally used, should not be used.
