Manchester United are willing to spend €60m on Teun Koopmeiners – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are reportedly willing to spend big to sign Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta this summer.

The Red Devils could face losing Sofyan Amrabat and Casemiro this summer, with the futures of Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay also up in the air.

This means the club will most likely be on the lookout for a midfielder, with reports claiming the Old Trafford outfit are trying to sign 19-year-old prodigy João Neves from Benfica.

Another name that has been mentioned is that of Koopmeiners, but it looked like Juventus were in the boxing seat to sign the Europa League winner.

However, eyefootball.com claim that “Manchester United are set to spend around €60m to sign Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners this summer”.

“He has reportedly revealed his desire to join Juventus this summer, but as things stand, the Bianconeri are nowhere near signing him.”

“The Torino giants cannot afford the said transfer package and are only willing to pay €40m with one player in return.”

United’s ability to beat Juve’s maximum price clearly gives them an advantage in their pursuit of the player, but the website also claim that the Red Devils may also need to sell to generate funds and use him Mason Greenwood as an example of a player he could sacrifice.

The site warns that “Koopmeiners is also on Liverpool’s radar and United must be proactive to avoid losing his signature to their arch-rivals.”

The Dutchman is versatile and can play all over the midfield. He was described as “outstanding in the air on dead balls. He also offers a great combination of short and long passing and can take the ball forward himself.”

Although a move for Neves looks more likely at this stage, if Benfica continue to demand such a high fee, then Koopmeiners lower price could be an attractive option for the Red Devils.

In a team that has struggled for goals all season, adding the 26-year-old’s 12 goals in all competitions would certainly add something to Erik ten Hag’s side.
