Two house fires in 24 hours in Cornwall as property destroyed

Two house fires have devastated properties in Cornwall in the space of 24 hours. The fires, which took place in Padstow and Newquay, were dealt with by Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service on Friday and Saturday mornings (June 7 and 8).

Firefighters were called to Boyd Avenue in Padstow just after 9am on Friday morning where a room was gutted by fire. Padstow Community Fire Station said: “On arrival a downstairs room was well lit.




“Firefighters used breathing apparatus and drum jets to quickly extinguish and extinguish the fire, preventing any further spread to the rest of the house and neighboring properties.”

Fortunately, no one was hurt. The crew added: “All occupants were safely evacuated without injury.”

Just under a day later, four fire engines attended an incident in Pentire, Newquay, at 8am on Saturday. Firefighters used breathing apparatus, a safety jet, a drum jet and a smoke screen.

No other information about the incident has been released.
