Usain Bolt makes bizarre claim at Manchester United and backs Man City in Premier League battle

Manchester United fan and Olympic icon Usain Bolt has explained why he would prefer Man City to win the title ahead of Arsenal – and boldly suggested the Red Devils have had a better season than the Gunners.

City won a fourth consecutive Premier League title last season, which was also their sixth in the Pep Guardiola era at the Etihad Stadium. City finished five points clear of runners-up Arsenal, while United were eighth, but still managed to qualify for the Europa League thanks to victory in the FA Cup final.

Bolt, an eight-time Olympic gold medallist, is well-known for being a United supporter and stuck by his club when asked who had the better season between the Red Devils and Arsenal.

“It’s like I’m running a track and I’m doing well and then I get to the championships and I don’t win any medals,” Bolt told talkSPORT. Asked about United’s worst Premier League finish, he added: “Yes, but we’re in Europe.”

However, despite his affection for the Old Trafford club, he explained why he was prepared to put his local rivalry with City aside when it came to the title race.

The 37-year-old explained why he preferred City to win the title over Arsenal. Bolt also gave a clear reason why he did not want third-placed Liverpool to be crowned Premier League champions.
