Nine people arrested over stabbing in Bristol

Nine people have been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Bristol which left a man in a serious condition.

Police are at the scene and a cordon remains in place following an attack near Rawnsley Park in the Easton area of ​​the city at around 4.40am this morning (Sunday June 9).

Two men in their 20s were taken to hospital with stab wounds, one of whom is in a serious condition.

The nine people in custody are being held on suspicion of attempted murder.

Avon and Somerset Police believe the individuals involved are known to each other.

Easton Way is closed between the junction with Stapleton Road and Pennywell Road. There is also no access to Easton Way from the Old Market.

Borough Police Chief Inspector Scott Hill said:

“This is a significant incident and I am aware that there have been a number of similar incidents of this nature over the past few months.

“I also understand that there is a great deal of concern in the community about knife crime. We remain committed to reducing serious violence and knife crime, particularly among young people. Earlier this year we launched a proactive operation targeting serious violence and knife crime and are working closely with partners to identify and tackle the root causes.

“A police cordon remains in place in Beaumont Terrace and Rawnsley Park and officers will ensure an increased high visibility presence in the area over the coming days.

“If you have any concerns or questions, please speak to our patrol officers.”

Avon and Somerset Police want to hear from anyone who was in the Stapleton Road / Rawnsley Park area between 4.15am and 5am this morning – or anyone who may have video footage of what happened.
