Obituary of Donald Erbe – Cornwall, Hampton Virgina, CT

ERBE, Donald Carter Donald Carter Erbe, 82, died Sunday (July 5, 2009) at the VA Medical Center in Hampton, VA. Born April 1, 1927 in Southington, he was the son of the late William J. and Louise (Caron) Erbe. Donald grew up in Southington until moving to Cornwall where he lived most of his life. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Air Force. He was a brokerage clerk for Farnstock & Co., Director of the Visitor Travel Center, USMA at West Point, and a consultant for World Wide Travel in NY, where he conducted various ski trips and hikes for the Center. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Air Force Sergeants Conf Appalachian and Adirondack Mountain Clubs. Donald is survived by two brothers, Raymond Erbe and his wife Frances of Norfolk, VA and William Erbe of Wolcott; a sister Dorothy Morse of New Britain; six nieces and nephews, Allan Erbe of Virginia Beach, VA, Mary Lou Sentell of Dice, KY, Debra Glover and her husband William of Portland, ME, Robert Morse Jr. of Meriden, Chris Trombly and her husband Gary of East Granby, Mark Morse and his wife, Melissa, of Watertown, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a twin brother Douglas Erbe and a sister Geraldine Erbe. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18, at 10:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to the Church of St. Thomas, 99 Bristol St., Southington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Quinnipiac Cemetery in Plantsville.
