Leicestershire pub announces closure as owners tease ‘exciting changes’

A Leicestershire pub is closing to make way for ‘exciting changes’. Bosses have teased an imminent relaunch as part of the changes.

The Oadby Owl, in Glen Road, is closing later today (Sunday June 9) ahead of what is being billed as a “six-figure investment and rebrand”. The pub is currently part of the Hungry Horse group but is transitioning to the Greene King pub brand.

The exact details of the changes are not known at this stage. Bosses said the Oadby Owl would still undergo “major refurbishment” as part of the investment.

The Oadby Owl team said their closure is only temporary as they welcome a number of “exciting changes”. They said: “We’ll be saying goodbye for a little while as we make some exciting changes here at Oadby Owl. Keep checking back for updates on changes and plans for our exciting relaunch events.”

The six-figure rebrand is expected to be completed by mid-July. The pub’s reopening date has not yet been announced.
