Florian Wirtz’s personal terms ‘agreed’ as Liverpool ‘battle’ Real Madrid for £127m move

Liverpool appear to have lost ground in the race for Florian Wirtz – as Real Madrid move into pole position to complete a £127million move in the summer of 2025.

As one of the standout young stars of Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten Bundesliga title-winning campaign and now heading for Euro 2024 success on home soil, German talent Wirtz is said to be attracting suitors from across the continent. Liverpool have been touted as a potential destination by numerous sources, although the latest update is not good news for the Reds.

According to Marca, there are two agreements in place that pave the way for the 21-year-old to complete a move from the BayArena to the Santiago Bernabeu – not Anfield – in a year’s time.

The first agreement is between the player, his representatives and his current club, Leverkusen. This is to ensure he stays with the German champions until the end of the upcoming 2024/25 campaign.

The second is also a verbal one with Real Madrid agreeing personal terms to complete the move to Spain in 2025. They claim money will be no object for Los Blancos boss Florentino Perez as the deal could reach up to 150 of millions of euros. (£127 million).

This follows a recent report in Germany detailing Real Madrid’s interest, which claimed the player and manager Xabi Alonso are set for moves to the Champions League holders in the same summer. The former midfielder had been in the running for the Liverpool job earlier this year before ruling himself out, with Arne Slot eventually appointed.
