Netflix viewers 'stay up until 3am' to finish 'flawless' dark drama that constantly keeps you guessing

The series pulled the strings and talked about a complicated issue

There are few thrillers that can keep you up at night, and that’s a good thing. But this new series is shocking fans like never before.

Netflix has been churning out binge-worthy series lately, and this one is no exception.

Fans have taken to social media and online to leave reviews of this six-part series, and everyone is loving it.

Based on a novel of the same name by MT Edvardsson, the Swedish show is set around the Sandwell family, a priest and a lawyer looking to get to the bottom of a crime.

With suspense, secrets and a picturesque family at the forefront of an investigation and a horrific criminal trial.

Since the entire plot revolves around a “did they or didn’t they do it,” it attracted fans right from the start, especially because of the 15-year age difference between the victim and Stella Sandwell, the daughter who is accused of the death.

One person wrote: “I really enjoyed this series. It’s very well written (I might even read the book now!) and well acted, with solid post-production touches.

“I was captivated from the first minutes. It was a little formulaic, but the viewer doesn’t know exactly what happened until the last scene.

“As another reviewer wrote, the English dubbing was flawless. So many shows/movies have very obvious voiceovers that are so noticeable that they distract the viewer from the substance of the show, but the voiceover in this show was just the right volume, perfectly timed, and perfectly mixed. I was surprised at how hard I noticed it was doubled.”

Someone else said: “This Swedish series is excellent and thought provoking. The plot moves seamlessly from episode to episode from start to finish. It is well acted with believable characters who experience many different emotions as each family member tries to react and resolve the tragic event that occurs along with its multiple repercussions. It’s definitely worth watching because of its universal theme of a fractured family unit as they struggle to heal and grow stronger.”

An almost normal family was originally dropped last November and viewers are still learning about it today!

Even Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 76% because of its dirty plot and fantastic emotional range.

The synopsis reads: “The world of a seemingly perfect family is shattered when a shocking murder proves they are willing to go to desperate lengths to protect each other.”

But it was always destined to be a success, as the director told Netflix that “from the first encounter with this story, I appreciated that it really has something in it.”

Per Hanefjord continued, “It raises complex issues, provides depth of character, and at the same time with gripping suspense.”

Another reviewer thought the same and wrote, “This movie must have been a labor of love for the writers. He is very sympathetic to violence against women, which is a challenging subject in the stories. It also has a well-acted, interesting plot that grabs your attention. The characters are flawed, dysfunctional and unhappy at times. But you forgive them because they have a greater purpose to ensure that true justice is done in a bad situation that would be almost impossible to explain in court.”

The series is available to watch now!
