Chaos has gripped a Leeds neighborhood after a man was spotted with a “gun”, it has been reported.

There is currently a ‘stand-off’ in Stanningley with armed police, armored vehicles and a bomb squad.

Negotiations are now underway between West Yorkshire Police and a man at a house in the Half Mile Green area.

An alarm was raised just after 12.36pm with dozens of officers from multiple units descending on the housing unit.

Footage from the housing complex shows the road has been closed while local residents are being removed from the scene.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed they responded to a domestic incident five miles from Leeds city centre.

A man was seen with what appeared to be a handgun, which forced officers to retreat from the building.

A police spokesman confirmed an operation was currently underway there.

They added: “At 12.36pm today officers were called to a domestic incident at the property but withdrew when they saw a man at the address in possession of what appeared to be a handgun.

“There is currently a cordon in place and various emergency services resources, including police negotiators, are at the scene working to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

“The man is the only person at the address and there is no risk to the wider community.”
