Showers on the way as thunderstorms threaten Yorkshire plans this weekend

Showers are on their way to Yorkshire despite the sunny weather, with possible thunder to arrive.

The Met Office has warned that there will be more showers on their way to Yorkshire this weekend, amid sunnier conditions that have swept the region recently. Some of these showers may bring thunder and lightning with them.

According to their forecast, many of these showers will be heavy and fall across the region in Leeds, Sheffield, York and Huddersfield. Showers are expected Sunday evening.

They said: “Mostly dry and warm with sunny spells, then increasing risk of showers on Sunday, possibly thundery. Mist and fog possible early. Unsettled, cooler on Monday, with rain and showers”.

Next week the weather is expected to remain unsettled with more showers arriving in Yorkshire. Some of these may also be shear, with above average rainfall.

The Met Office said: “The weather is expected to change from the current warm and settled conditions, with a return to an unsettled and rainy pattern as low pressure comes to dominate. Rain and showers, locally heavy and thundery, are expected across much of the UK.
