Manager enters competition in Leicester City’s next major boss change

Leicester City are approaching exactly one week without a manager at the helm of the club. Last Monday, Enzo Maresca officially left for Chelsea, and in the time since then the odds have changed drastically as to who will be his replacement.

A number of names were mentioned at the same time as Leicester, even before the club’s latest manager was announced on the exit door. However, only a few of them can say that they were considered “favorites” for the now vacant position.

This title was originally awarded to West Bromwich Albion’s Carlos Corberan. The Spaniard has led both his current side and Huddersfield Town to the Championship play-offs in recent years, earning him due recognition in the East Midlands.

However, claims have emerged of talks with Steve Cooper and the Welshman’s presence has seen him drastically climb the odds ladder at the expense of Corberan, who has left in the next Foxes managerial market. The former Nottingham Forest boss finds himself the current leader, as it stands in the latest Sky Bet odds.

Similarly, Graham Potter has become an attractive prospect as he has been tabbed as a ‘top target’. The 49-year-old, who has also been out of work since last taking charge of Chelsea at the start of 2023, is following close behind.

Among the other names that have emerged, a duo of Manchester United legends have sparked some interest. Most recently, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer burst onto the scene – even eclipsing Corberan at this current stage. Ruud van Nistelrooy was also an early adopter.
