Armley: Activity Center applies for eco heating
West Leeds Activity Centre.

A council-run activity center in Armley is set to go greener after plans were submitted to install three air source heat pumps at the popular facility.

West Leeds Activity Center is based off Lenhurst Avenue and a planning application submitted to Leeds City Council says the new pumps, which help lower carbon emissions by taking heat from outside air to provide heating and hot water, even when temperatures are equally low. -15C.

In addition, a solar photovoltaic scheme is proposed on the roof of the centre.

A design statement submitted with the application said: “The project is to be delivered to improve the long-term viability and energy sustainability of the centres.”
