Murder charge after woman found dead at home

A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead in a home in Leicester.

Police were called to an address in Tarbat Road shortly before 1.30pm BST on Monday.

Raj Sidpara, 50, of Tarbat Road, Leicester, has been charged over the death of 44-year-old Tarnjeet Riaz, also known as the Chagger girl.

Mr Sidpara has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Det Insp Emma Matts said: “A team of detectives are continuing to work to understand what happened and a cordon will remain in place while we thoroughly examine the scene.”

Ms Riaz’s family is being supported by specialist officers, the force added.
