An investigation is underway after an attack in Sheffield.

Police were called to Darnall on Saturday afternoon where they found a 23-year-old man with serious head injuries.

Officers are now asking anyone with dash cam footage to come forward.

A police statement said:

“We were called by the ambulance service at 4.36pm yesterday (June 8) to reports of a serious assault on Staniforth Road in the Darnall area of ​​Sheffield.

“A 23-year-old man was assaulted and suffered serious head injuries. The 23-year-old was transported to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.

“The Staniforth Road was closed for a short time yesterday while officers carried out their work and has since reopened.

“An investigation is ongoing and a team of officers are carrying out extensive inquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident.

“Our neighborhood officers are carrying out patrols in the area over the coming days. Anyone with concerns is encouraged to stop and speak to officers who are there to support the local community.

“We are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward. If you were in the area at the time of the incident, have CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist officers with their enquiries, please get in touch.
