General Election 2024: Warwick and Leamington candidates

Voters in Warwick and Leamington have no fewer than six candidates to choose from when they go to the polls in next month’s general election. Leader Matt Western, who has held the seat for Labor since 2017, returns to defend the constituency.

He is being challenged by five candidates – you can see the full list of candidates below. Warwick and Leamington is, for the 2024 general election, considered a ‘new seat’ due to boundary changes; however, the constituency has been held by Labor since 2017. Until 1997, it was considered a “safe seat” for the Conservatives, but James Plaskitt took it for Labor when Tony Blair came to power.

Chris White took it back for the Conservatives under David Cameron’s success in 2010 and switched back to Labor in 2017 when Matt Western won the seat.

The constituency consists of the towns of Warwick and Royal Leamington Spa, together with the surrounding villages and countryside, including Bishop’s Tachbrooke. Milverton, Lillington, Offchurch, Hunningham, Eathorpe and Wappenbury.
