From flying to Barcelona for a tapas spot or picnicking in Paris, the latest TikTok travel trend is inspiring Brits to take advantage of affordable flights for quick 24-hour getaways and the best destinations to fly from Manchester Airport for short city breaks were revealed.

Late Rooms discovered the best UK airports to fly to for a 24 hour holiday and the best destinations to fly to. The hotel booking company analyzed UK airports based on three factors; which airport does it have the shortest flights availablewhich airport does it have the cheapest flight available to a destination, plus what airport it has the most frequent flight – so you can take part in the trend any day.

They also analyzed destinations to the UK’s busiest airports on five factors; finding the destination where you could get off the plane and head straight for downtownthat the destinations have seen the least precipitation, the cheapest average mealsdestinations with most points of interest and finally the biggest demand for “things to do” content on TikTok.

From the third busiest airport in the UK, Manchester, Marrakesh Morocco has been crowned the best destination for a 24-hour city break. Despite being one of the destinations’ longest flight times (around 240 minutes), travelers can ensure flights priced at £167 per person with up to three flights a day from Manchester.

That longer flight time is worth the wait though one of the driest climates and the cheapest prices for food and drinks (approx £32.95 for a restaurant meal for two). A short distance from the airport to the center of Marrakesh (6.4 km) and over a dozen places of cultural interest such as Jardin Majorelle and Bahia Palace – Marrakech offers an exotic city break at an affordable price from Manchester.

Although Marrakech offers the best all-round experience for a short getaway, travelers looking for lower-cost options could take a flight to Shannon, Ireland for just £30 or Eindhoven, Netherlands for £33 – the cheapest destinations Manchester flies to.

In second place, the best short breaks from Manchester Airport was the Portuguese capital Lisbonwith a flight time of 180 minutes for around £141 per person, with a choice of up to six departure flights per day. Furthermore, the appeal of a whirlwind mini-break in Lisbon lies in its good weather, low rainfall, short drive from the airport (just 6.3 km away) and over 30 points of cultural interest within the city, including Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and Castelo de Sao Jorge. While it’s not the cheapest destination (an average meal for two costs around £42.75), it’s still in high demand as a city break of choice – with over 12,000 monthly searches on TikTok for “things to do”.

Coming in third place is Alicante, which has the fifth largest airport in Spain, is a popular hub for those visiting Alicante and popular nearby destinations such as Benidorm. With a average flight cost £215 per personA moderate flight time of 120 minutes and nine departure flights per day it overtook destinations such as Dublin in Ireland and Reus in Spain in Manchester’s top three.
