Great Central Railway is offering dads an ‘exciting’ £1 offer this Father’s Day

Dads can travel for just £1 to one of Leicestershire’s best-loved attractions this Father’s Day. People are being urged to book their place on a nostalgic day and get on board with some shiny bits of steam train history.

The rallying call comes from Great Central Railway (GCR), who are hosting an inclusive event this Father’s Day (Sunday 16 June). Available to dads of all ages, the heritage railway offers rides on its trains for just £1 when accompanied by a paying child – young or old.

The ‘Dads for a Quid’ event means all father figures can explore the GCR’s vintage steam trains and enjoy a scenic ride across Leicestershire before stopping off at one of their cafes or tea rooms.

Malcolm Holmes, GCR Managing Director, said: “What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than with a day full of toys for big boys! It’s the first time we’ve offered dads the opportunity to take a pound and we’re really excited to welcome families and their father figures to experience everything Great Central Railway has to offer.”

The Dads for a Quid initiative applies to families of all ages, so there’s no limit to who can take advantage of the £1 offer. The Father’s Day Raffle can be added to individual tickets for families coming to GCR this weekend.

The GCR runs between Leicester and Loughborough and its team have made it clear that all children – whether they are six or 66 – will have to buy their own ticket, while their father wins entry for £1. Great Central Railway ticket options include:
