The Cornwall pub has been named the best in the whole country at the awards

A Cornwall pub has been named the best in the country. The Cornish pub won the gold Visit England Award for Excellence and was named the best in England.

After winning the Cornwall and South West selections, The Peterville Inn in St Agnes was awarded ‘Pub of the Year’ at a ceremony hosted at Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel. Tom and Lara Trubshaw, who run the pub with their managing director Steven Gibbs, attended the ceremony hosted by TV star Alex Polizzi alongside other businesses in the county.




Tom and Lara, who also run the Wig and Pen pub in Truro, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be named the best in the country – we never thought in a million years it would happen . It’s a massive recognition of all the hard work and passion put in by our whole team who make the pub what it is. We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone.”

Steven added: “I have been with Tom and Lara for many years and when we opened The Peterville Inn less than four years ago, under the shadow of covid, we never thought we could achieve something so incredible. We have an incredible and equally wonderful team. customers I am so proud of everyone.”

Following the awards, My Cottages in St Ives won silver in the self-catering category, while The Pig at Harlyn Bay took home the bronze award for Small Hotel of the Year.
