A30 accident victim named as investigation opens

A man who died in a crash on the A30 has been named. Martin John Snowden, from Holsworthy in Devon, died after being involved in a two-vehicle collision at Plusha, near Launceston, on the evening of May 2.

The 38-year-old from Holsworthy was traveling in a Honda Civic when he was involved in a collision with a Range Rover Evoque. The accident happened late that night, but despite the efforts of emergency services who rushed to the incident, he was pronounced dead at the scene.




Three other people traveling in the vehicle were taken to Derriford Hospital, including one victim in a serious condition. The two people in the Range Rover were taken to Treliske Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The Coroner in Cornwall identified the deceased as Mr Snowden and an inquest into his death was opened on May 30 and adjourned for inquiries to be completed before a full hearing at Truro Coroner’s Court.

At the time of the fatal crash, Devon and Cornwall Police said the driver of the Honda, a 45-year-old man, had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
