Coventry City notebook: KP edge closer to World Cup as pre-season continues to take shape

All continues to be quiet on the Coventry front as Sky Blues fans eagerly await news of new signings and the release of next season’s kit.

The Championship club continue to be linked with players amid reported strong interest in the likes of Ben Sheaf, but so far Mark Robins has done little early business as Australian winger Raphael Borges Rodrigues joined the January capture of Ephron Mason. The Sky Blues normally return to work on July 1, but with the Championship starting a week later than usual due to the Euros, City may return a week later. Here we take a look at what’s happening in and around the club.

Kasey is getting closer to the World Cup

Kasey Palmer helped Jamaica move a step closer to World Cup qualification as the Reggae Boyz beat Dominica 3-2 on Sunday night. The Coventry City playmaker was slotted into his favored number ten position behind the front two and came through 90 minutes of action in the second round of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers at Windsor Park Stadium.

Jamaica remain in second place, behind counterparts Guatemala, in Group E qualifying with Sky Blues teammate Joel Latibeaudiere missing out with a calf strain.

EFL publishes Sky Blues retained list

Coventry’s full official retained list has been published by the EFL. There are 29 players on the Sky Blues roster, eight of whom are development players. Mark Robins is a manager who likes to give young players a chance, so don’t be surprised to see a flurry of Under-21 features in pre-season, which kicks off in just a few short weeks.
