Flambards quash rumors of land sale to McDonald’s

A Cornish theme park which has announced the closure of four of its most popular attractions has quashed rumors it is selling its land to a major fast food chain. After Flambards announced last week that it had closed The Thunderbolt, Sky Swinger, SkyForce and The Hornet Rollercoaster rides, there was an outpouring of anger and sadness from loyal visitors on social media.

While the Helston theme park claimed the continued lack of specialist parts had made maintenance ‘more and more difficult for these rides’, people on social media were not convinced this was the real reason for the closure their. This has led to a number of rumors circulating on the internet that the land will be sold or leased to make way for a new McDonald’s restaurant.

However, Flambards has since denied this was the case and told CornwallLive that no one at the theme park had any contact with the fast food chain. A spokesperson also clarified that it is not that racing parts are not available, but that they are too difficult to obtain from overseas manufacturers.

A full statement said: “No one at Flambards has had any contact with McDonald’s and the problem with specialist racing parts is that they often have to be sourced from overseas and this can make delivery times a problem and replacement. “

Flambards will be closed from today (June 10) until July 1 while site operators make updates to the park. First Time announced on Monday (June 3) that it had reduced the entry price to £12.95 per person for its pink days this week, adding that tickets can be bought online or on arrival at that price. It also read: “If you are a season pass holder you can collect tokens for a free ride on the Kart Track if you visit on these days.”
