Joint MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems at IIT Madras and University of Birmingham: Details and Application Process

The University of Birmingham and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras are launching a new joint Master’s program in Sustainable Energy Systems. Institutions have opened applications for this new course, an institute release said.

Building on last year’s launch of the partners’ first joint master’s program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI), the new course will help its graduates become specialists in a fast-growing industry that is leading the fight against change climatic.

Students will study in both Chennai and Birmingham before receiving a single degree awarded jointly by both universities. They will also carry out a substantial individual project within internationally recognized research groups, giving them the opportunity to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges.

The University of Birmingham has a long history of energy research and education, from the development of the first hydrogen refueling station and publicly accessible boat in the United Kingdom (UK), to the development of large-scale energy storage to the development of chain technology cold. in Africa and large-scale facilities for nuclear power applications.

The program offers students the flexibility to complete the program in either Birmingham or IIT Madras. The program will begin with students starting their studies at IIT Madras and completing a short industrial placement. Students then have the option between two paths:

Option 1 – Study in the UK for 12 months, including a research project in Birmingham

Option 2 – Study in the UK for six months, then return to IIT Madras to complete the program and undertake a research project at IIT Madras
