Council ‘sorry’ as horror slide stops after boy crashes face-first into floor

Wakefield Council has released a statement after a boy fell from a slide in Pontefract Park.

In a video on social media, a child can be seen going down the slide. However, they soon pick up too much speed and fly sideways, hitting their face on the floor.

Now, due to concerns about the slide, the council has announced it has been closed until they are “fully confident” it has become safe. They also added that they were “very sorry” for what happened and said that the company that made the slide had previously assured them that the issues had been resolved.

“It was very worrying to read the comments. Especially since the company that made the slide has assured us that these issues have been resolved. The slide will remain closed until we are fully confident it is safe.”
