Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 India launch during the festive season

Royal Enfield is all set to bring excitement to the upcoming festive season with the launch of its new scrambler motorcycle, the Bear 650. This new offering is expected to hit showrooms sometime between November and December 2024.

The Royal Enfield Bear 650 is based on the popular Interceptor 650. The key changes are for tackling rough terrain. We can expect a higher stance, increased ground clearance and a two-into-one exhaust system designed for better weight distribution and more clearance when riding off-road.

Royal Enfield Scrambler design

The Royal Enfield Bear 650 is expected to embrace the neo-retro aesthetic. A sculpted fuel tank, minimal bodywork and stubby tail section will create a main body profile. However, the RE Bear 650 will also feature some design elements chosen specifically for their off-road functionality. These features include a high-mounted front fender and a single seat with a ribbed design. The handlebars are expected to be flat and wide, and the feet are placed under the rider. This will give him a relaxed riding position with enough room to sit and ride.

Royal Enfield Scrambler Features

The Royal Enfield Bear 650 will have a full LED lighting system. There will also be a digital instrument cluster, potentially similar to that seen on the Super Meteor 650, which will give riders a clear view of essential information. There could also be the Tripper turn-by-turn navigation system.

Royal Enfield Scrambler engine

At the heart of the Royal Enfield Bear 650 will be the tried and tested 648 cc air/oil cooled parallel twin engine found in other Royal Enfield 650 models. This engine is known for its torquey performance, producing 47 bhp at 7,150 rpm and 52 Nm of maximum torque at 5,250 rpm. While the engine itself could remain unchanged, the gearing could be revised to better suit the scrambler’s driving style, with an emphasis on low-end grunt for off-road situations. It will be equipped with a 6-speed gearbox with a sliding clutch.

Royal Enfield Scrambler Chassis

The Royal Enfield Interceptor uses a body-on-frame construction, where the engine and transmission are mounted directly on a pressed steel frame. On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Bear 650 is expected to use a separate chassis design. This design consists of a steel frame that is independent of the body panels. A separate chassis offers several advantages for dirt bikes.

The RE Bear 650 is expected to get a significant upgrade in the suspension department. Unlike the telescopic fork on the Interceptor, the Bear 650 will have upside-down (USD) forks at the front for better handling on rough terrain. The rear suspension will likely remain a double-shock setup, but with increased travel for improved ground clearance and bump absorption. For off-road use, the Royal Enfield Bear 650 will come with block-pattern tires similar to those found on adventure bikes.

Royal Enfield’s strategic launch of the Bear 650 during the festive season, usually a period of increased spending in India, is a smart move to capitalize on buyer enthusiasm. The Royal Enfield Bear 650 is expected to be priced at ₹3.20 lakh to ₹3.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be the second 650cc bike from Royal Enfield to be launched in India after the Classic 650 in 2024 .
