A woman has died following a crash in Bristol last night (June 9).

Officers were called to Brunel Way at around 5.30pm to the incident involving a car and a pedestrian.

A 60-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drug-impaired driving – and has since been released under investigation.

Police have now launched an appeal for information.

In a statement, a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Officers were called at around 5.30pm to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on the A370 Brunel Way.

“The pedestrian was taken to hospital. Despite the best efforts of emergency services personnel, she sadly died from her injuries. Her next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time. They will be given support by a special specialist. -trained family liaison officer.

“A 60-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drug-impaired driving. She has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.

“The road was closed to Bristol traffic before being reopened at around 9pm. We would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while officers carried out their enquiries.
