Martin Lewis issues an urgent warning that “anyone renting” should read.

Martin Lewis has issued a warning to “anyone renting”. The BBC Sounds podcast host and ITV star took to Twitter, now X, on Monday June 10 as she sounded the alarm to UK renters who are facing a severe financial blow.

“Please share this with anyone who rents. I learned a lot from our specialists, a crucial knowledge tool for any renter…” he said. He added: “NEW PODCAST! Tenants’ rights inc. Can you contest a rent increase? Help with repairs/moisture?

“Can your pet request be rejected? My new spin-off pod where I ask questions to the experts. Listen up.” The episode synopsis explains: “Not The Martin Lewis Podcast: Where Martin Asks Your Expert Questions.”

It adds: “Can you contest the rent increase? And more tenant rights from repairs, damp to pets and disputes…” One Instagram user replied: “Great! I’m about to be a homeowner and a renter at the same time, as I did. I had to move for work.

“My daughter is a renter. She has a decent landlord who lets her treat the house as a home, BUT the rent is astronomical. She, her husband and three children are worried about the next rent increase because it may be beyond their means. What are you doing?” he asked for a second.

“I’m in the housing association (Livewest) there should be a law where we don’t pay 50% for new builds, they should get financial support from somewhere else to build them, I pay £126 a week (63 pounds for new build),’ another social media user wrote.

And another social media user responded saying: “Hi Martin, what was the result of the survey you took for financial problems? “It takes 30 seconds to see if you’re eligible” I haven’t heard anything since November though (the black horse) Thanks”
