June: Summer Open Days for “University and City Showcase” | News and features

More than 40,000 prospective students and their loved ones will visit Bristol this week for the first University of Bristol Open Days.

On Friday (June 14) and Saturday (June 15) from 9.30am to 4pm, they will get a taste of the University’s undergraduate courses, pastoral support and student experience.

They will also learn about his careers Services, scholarships and the 350 clubs and societiesoffered through Bristol Students’ Union.

Attendees can meet current students and graduates, and there are special talks aimed at older (mature) prospective students and those from Bristol.

Eighteen pop-up food stalls will offer everything from delicious pizza and mac and cheese to vegan tacos and Sri Lankan dishes.

Local businesses should expect more traffic, particularly around the heart of the Clifton campus: Tyndall Avenue, Woodland Road, Queens Road and the Triangle.

Professor Tansy Jessop, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and Students, said: “Open days are all about showcasing our brilliant university and city.

“It’s always a highlight in the calendar and we can’t wait to welcome students and their families to campus later this week.”

Tyndall Avenue, Woodland Road and Priory Road will be closed to traffic on Saturday to allow the shuttle bus service to operate. There will also be a one-way system from St Michael’s Hill, along Tyndall Avenue, turning right onto Woodland Road and exiting onto Tyndall’s Park Road.

Number 72 will divert via Queens Avenue, Elmdale Road and Tyndall’s Park Road in both directions. The U2 service will operate as usual.
