The man asked the woman for her social media passwords and threatened to stab her father

A man humiliated his victim by bombarding her with threatening messages and other upsetting material.

Declan Goulbourne, 24, bombarded his victim with threats over three days, including an abusive text message in which he threatened to stab the victim’s father. He also threatened to share compromising material with her mother and demanded she hand over the passwords to her private social media accounts.

Derek Jones, prosecuting, said Goulbourne, of Round Hey, Stockbridge Village, demanded access to his victim’s private accounts and “told her he was going to kill himself by jumping off a bridge and she wouldn’t let him do this and it would be her fault.”

He said: “He later sent abusive messages to the victim asking her to share all her passwords on all her social media accounts. He also threatened to blow up her house.”

Mr Jones said this then progressed to threatening to share other material he had uploaded to his own Instagram account and the victim asked him to delete it. He responded abusively and made further requests, at one point claiming 17 people had already seen the material.”

Carmel Wilde, defending, said the offending took place over a short period of three days. She said: “He has low mood, anxiety and difficulties. He pleaded guilty. The offense took place over a short period of time and he accepts that it must have caused extreme distress to the applicant.”
