Rail services suspended after surrender of points

West Midlands Railway first alerted passengers to the problem on the intercity line at around 5.15am on Tuesday.

It initially said services were suspended to Lichfield and Four Oaks, but later said trains could not run between Lichfield and Birmingham.

Customers have been advised that train tickets are accepted on National Express West Midlands buses as well as Cross Country trains between Tamworth and Birmingham New Street both ways.

There are also rail exchange buses running between Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield Trent Valley.
