A “thorough” investigation will determine what caused a fairground ride malfunction that left four people injured at the weekend, Lambeth Council said.

A race was reported to have failed at Lambeth Country Show in Brockwell Park, south London, at around 6.20pm on Saturday.

Emergency services treated four people at the scene.

A man and a woman, both in their forties, remain in hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. A man in his fifties and an 11-year-old girl were discharged.

The fun fair was closed, although the show continued on Sunday.

A spokesman for Lambeth Council said: “A thorough investigation is being carried out to determine the cause of the fault.”

The Metropolitan Police and the Health and Safety Executive are leading the investigation.
