Sheffield United face fresh competition to sign midfielder – Blades interest backed

According to a claim in Turkish media, Trabzonspor are the latest club to show interest in Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Steven Alzate.

The 25-year-old will become a free agent when his contract with Brighton expires at the end of this month and has also been linked with a move to Sheffield United in recent weeks.

Fotomac reports today that Trabzonspor are looking to convince Alzate to move to the Super Lig. The Turkish side are claimed to have made an offer for the midfielder, but will face competition to sign him.

Once again, Sheffield United are named as one of the clubs interested in signing the player, along with MLS teams.

The Blades will be looking to strengthen their squad this summer as they hope to return to the Premier League at the first attempt. They were only yesterday linked with a move for Besiktas attacking midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as he wants a return to England.

Alzate joined Brighton in 2017 but made just 51 appearances during his time with the Premier League club. Last season, the Colombian international was loaned to Standard Liege.
