‘We had no doubts’ – Huddersfield captain Jonathan Hogg had no hesitation about the new deal

Huddersfield Town captain Jonathan Hogg insists he had “no doubt at all” about extending his stay with the Terriers after signing a new one-year deal with the club. The 35-year-old is set to enter his 12th season with Town on signing his new deal, having joined the Terriers from Watford in 2013.

The club confirmed to the retained list last month that they had held talks with the out-of-contract midfielder to extend his spell at the John Smith’s Stadium, with Hogg now putting pen to paper on a new deal.

“There was no doubt in my mind about extending my contract here,” Hogg told his club’s website. “I’ve said it before, but this is my club and now I couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else.

“Having been here for over a decade, I know the city through good times and bad, and although the last two seasons haven’t gone to plan, I’m determined to do my part to help fix that in any way I can. .

“Having spoken to both Mark (Cartwright) and Michael (Duff) about their plans for the future, it’s something I want to be a part of. Whenever I am called upon, I will continue to give everything I have for Huddersfield Town, just as I have done since the day I arrived almost 11 years ago.”

Hogg has played 365 times for Town in all competitions in his 11 seasons to date, placing him 12th on the club’s all-time appearances list. The midfielder began his career at Aston Villa before joining Watford in 2011, where he spent two years before beginning his long spell with the Terriers.
