Unsuspecting drivers were caught speeding through the village by police officers on the prowl

Three motorists have been reprimanded for speeding in a Wiltshire village.

Officers from Response Team 2 Trowbridge and Melksham NPT carried out speed checks on the A361 in Seend, waiting for any drivers exceeding the speed limit.

During these checks, Wiltshire Police officers spotted a trio of speeders driving through the area at speeds in excess of the 30mph speed limit.

Counseling was given to all three.

Officers added that one of the speeding drivers told them they “think it’s acceptable to speed” because they were “overexcited listening to a tennis match on their radio”.

A spokesman said: “Despite how much fun tennis can be, it is not acceptable to exceed the speed limit.”
