Who wants to see former Leeds United boss Sam Allardyce win the Championship play-offs

The Championship play-off semi-finals begin this weekend. But who among Leeds United, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City will prevail and gain promotion to the Premier League?

History is not on the side of the whites. They have never won promotion via the play-offs in five previous appearances.

But as the old saying goes, records are there to be broken and the Whites will be looking to take a giant step towards Wembley when they take on the Canaries in the first leg of their semi-final at Carrow Road on Sunday at lunchtime . United will be confident of their chances of reaching the final after beating Norwich twice in the regular season.

Sam Allardyce hopes United can win the play-offs. He took over as Whites boss for the final four games of last term following the departure of Javi Garcia, but was unable to save the club from relegation.

Speaking on the latest episode of the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Allardyce said: “Obviously I want Leeds because I was there last season and found it, in a short time, a great club. I hope he gets back there and gets some stability in terms of trying to stay there this time.

“It’s been a good season for them, but if they don’t quite make it, like with everything else, what happens financially? Then they have to cut back financially and it becomes more difficult then.”

The winner of Norwich-Leeds will face Southampton or West Bromwich Albion in the final at Wembley on Sunday 26 May.
