Ipswich are now four points clear at the top of the Premiership table – thanks to a 50-40 win over Sheffield at Foxhall.

The hosts had Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls on for the injured duo of Jason Doyle and Danny King as the visitors were at their best.

Ipswich were in pole position to take the aggregate bonus point after winning 46-44 at Owlerton, but after a Tigers high in the heat, it looked like it was going to be a tough night.

However, the top Witches dusted and leveled immediately before steadily adding heat advantages throughout the night and sealing the deal with a run to spare.

Keynan Rew top scored with 10.

Witches manager Ritchie Hawkins was delighted with the win: “It was a brilliant night and I’m delighted with the result.

“Big up to the track staff again, the track was under water this morning and we had showers throughout the day but they managed to get the meeting started without a problem on the track.

“The team was solid throughout and each of them contributed a paid win.

“The results are brilliant and everything is going well on the track. You’d think there would come a time when all the injury problems we’ve had might catch up to us, but we’ve got people coming back and it feels a bit like we’ve been through the worst of it.

“With the results and the performances and how everyone has done, you wouldn’t know all the problems we’ve had with driver availability and I’m delighted for the guys. The atmosphere and team spirit is amazing and that’s what gets us through. what should be a really hard time.

“We all cover for each other. Jordan is improving week after week and bringing in valuable points. Dan clearly had some side effects from his virus which I’m sure everyone can relate to, he was tired but that race in series 10, he came out after a few tough races and to win shows so much about character or.

“Keynan has gone up a level or two in the last few weeks and Adam was superb tonight. That leaves you with Emil and two good guests tonight, so when you go out on track knowing that all seven drivers are capable of winning races, it’s a huge bonus for me.”

The Witches will now look to extend their lead when they take on Oxford on Thursday.
