Nigel Farage hit wet cement in Barnsley during the UK reform campaign

A 28-year-old man has been arrested after “coffee cups and wet cement” were thrown at Nigel Farage during his campaign in Barnsley.

The UK Reform leader was traveling through Barnsley in an open-top bus as part of his campaign when objects were thrown at it. Farage shared a video of the incident on X, formerly known as Twitter, as he thanked South Yorkshire Police for their help.




The video shows Farage traveling through the city center in an open top bus as he is surrounded by both supporters and protesters. Farage waves to the crowd below before quickly turning away as what appears to be wet cement is hurled at him from a bin on a nearby construction site.

The man then threw another object at Farage, before fleeing the scene. Officers from South Yorkshire Police can be seen chasing the man down the street. As an officer grabs the man responsible, people on top of the bus can be heard cheering and cheering.

Farage shared the video with the caption: ‘My huge thanks to South Yorkshire Police today. I will not be harassed or intimidated by a violent leftist mob that hates our country.”


He later told reporters he believed the objects were wet cement and a coffee cup.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We have today (June 11) arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of public order offenses following disturbances in Barnsley town centre. The man is believed to have thrown items from a nearby construction site. A suspect was quickly apprehended and remains in police custody.”
