The popular Cornwall theme park is temporarily closing this summer

You remember well. The faint smell of hot dogs mixed with popcorn and sweat, the annoying hour spent looking for a parking spot in the heat, the lukewarm cheese sandwiches your mom packed because she swore you told her they were your favorite ( not bad). Heading to a nearby theme park is a classic British day out, but for the month of July the people of Cornwall he might have to travel a little further to get his fix at the funfair.

Flambards, a popular family attraction in Helston, Cornwall, has announced it has closed until July 1 as it replaces four old rides. Thunderbolt, Sky Swinger, Sky Force and Hornet Rollercoaster will bid farewell to the Cornish coast for safety reasons.

According to the park, there was a shortage of parts needed to repair the coasters and bring them up to safety standards. A spokesperson for the brand said: The aim of ‘Flambards’ is to introduce new rides that are more suitable for the younger market in the future.

Flambards will reopen on July 1 with reduced entry fees, reflecting the loss of four of its biggest races. Day tickets will now cost just £14.95 and children under 95cm will go free. Season pass holders will be able to claim a full refund or free go-kart tokens in the park on their next visit.

Hopefully when the site reopens in July it will have received some much needed TLC. For the most up-to-date information on the situation, check the park website here.
