With Thorpe Park originally planning to have Hyperia ready for the public by May 24, an announcement came on May 25 that the long-awaited ride could not open due to unforeseen circumstances, Surrey Live reports.

Thorpe Park bosses initially announced a temporary closure of the race between May 26 and 29, then revised the date. They initially aimed to reopen the heart-stopping rollercoaster by June 8, but finally relented on Thursday, June 6, saying it wouldn’t be possible.”

In a statement regarding the reopening of the ride, Thorpe Park said: “Once again, we want to thank everyone for their understanding and patience.
