The Prince of Wales treats himself to a pasty when he arrives on the Isles of Scilly

He was served by Joely Dearman, 22, and Zachariah Fox, 28, both seasonal workers from North Devon.

“What’s selling the fastest this morning?” he asked.

He told her it was the cookies, adding: “It smells delicious. It makes your mouth water.”

The prince also revealed that he enjoyed a swim in the sea this morning.

Outside, he told the tourists lined up to meet him that he would like to stay. “My family is very upset that I’m here without them,” he laughed. “The kids will kill me if I don’t go home later.”

He asked them if they were waiting to catch a boat. “We are waiting for you!” said a woman. “I’m never sure,” William laughed.
