On 4 July 2024, the UK electorate goes to the polls to vote for who they want as a Member of Parliament.

EALING.NEWS asked all the candidates in the three constituencies of Ealing Ealing Central and Acton, Ealing North and Ealing Southall 7 questions about who they are, what they hope to deliver and why residents want to vote for them.

Nada Jarche, who represents the Labor Party in Ealing Central and Acton, answers the 7 questions:

Tell us a little about yourself, your priorities for the constituency and why you want to be the next Member of Parliament for Ealing Central and Acton?
I am Nada Jarche, a dedicated public servant with a background in community activism and social justice. My priorities for Ealing Central and Acton include promoting economic growth, actively improving the local environment and providing strong support for small and medium-sized businesses. In addition, I am committed to prioritizing funding in education, focusing on developing skills that are in high demand. I want to be the next parliamentarian to bring a fresh perspective and dedicated advocacy to the issues that matter most to our community.

What motivates you?
I am motivated by the desire to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Seeing the positive impact of effective policies and community projects makes me work harder. The resilience and diversity of our community inspires me daily to fight for equity and justice. Encouraging greater participation and engagement of young people in decision-making processes and ensuring that their voices are heard and valued is also a significant motivation for me.

What is your own personal connection to Ealing Central and Acton or any other part of the borough?
As my family and friends live in Ealing Central and Acton, I have developed a special connection to the area. Living close to Ealing Central and Acton has made it possible for me to engage in community service projects and develop closer links with local people. As well as establishing close relationships with people of different ages, races and religions throughout the neighborhood. I was inspired by the urge to create change for both current and future generations as a result of the ability to understand people’s needs and challenges on a deeper level. Residents of Ealing Central and Acton have endured great suffering in silence as no one is prepared to listen or even help. I am willing to reach out to all local people to ensure we come together and work as a team to improve Ealing Central and Acton.

What do you consider to be your 5 most important political or personal achievements and what impact did they have? (the candidate answered the question with the following)

My personal achievements and my plan for residents:

Volunteering with Hounslow Race and Equalities Council allows me to gain experience working with a variety of different backgrounds and listening to their issues. In addition, I had the opportunity to be involved in an oversight committee (HFTRA). This gave me the skills to listen to residents’ problems and try to find a solution with them, working hand in hand with the council.

Housing accessibility:
With housing costing 14.4 times annual income, Acton has been recognized as the most expensive city in 2022. My aim is to address the high cost of living that local residents have to bear and reduce the cost of housing.

Violent crime:
Residents of the neighborhood are extremely worried about their safety as CCTV cameras and street lights are not working properly. To guarantee public safety, the neighborhood needs modern and reliable CCTV cameras and street lighting. In addition, to make the community a safer place for everyone, we need to work closely with the police.

Health:
My aim is to improve hospital and GP services, including A&E. Keeping older people out of care facilities and allowing them to get the support and care they need in the comfort of their own homes. In addition, I want to help people get the right care to mitigate the long-term effects of COVID-19 and to protect and improve people’s physical and emotional well-being.

Work in the community and young people:
My aim is to reinvigorate youth clubs in the district so that young people can gain skills and self-confidence and have a fully equipped and safe place to go whenever they want. My objective is to increase the green spaces in the neighborhood, which will make it cleaner and give the community more places to gather as part of my community work. I also want to bring cultures and communities together.

What do you see as the top 5 challenges facing Ealing Central and Acton and how will you tackle them as an MP?

1. Affordable Housing: Advocate for policies that increase the availability of affordable housing.

2. Access to healthcare: Work to improve funding and resources for local healthcare services.

3. Quality of education: Push for more funding and better facilities in local schools.

4. Public transport: Improve and expand public transport options to reduce congestion and pollution.

What do you love about Ealing?
I love Ealing’s vibrant diversity, rich cultural heritage and strong sense of community. Green spaces, lively markets and local festivals make it a great place to live and work.
