Two charged after an alleged attack in Leicester city center which left a teenager with a fractured jaw

Two teenagers have been charged after an alleged attack in Leicester city centre. The incident left one person with a broken jaw.

The alleged attack took place on Saturday, January 13, during a “mass disorder” incident in Gallowtree Gate following a previously reported robbery. Several police officers were assaulted during the disturbance, but none were seriously injured.

However, a teenager was also allegedly assaulted and suffered a fractured jaw. In a statement, Leicestershire Police said today that they have now charged Zaid Elaoroussi and a 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of his age, in connection with the alleged assault.

Five arrests were made in connection with the disorder, all of whom were released on bail. A 24-hour dispersal order was also put in place across Gallowtree Gate following the incident.
