Birmingham police are investigating the Wednesday morning homicide

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A shooting early Wednesday morning has Birmingham detectives investigating a homicide.

Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of 3rd Avenue West at approximately 12:23 a.m. on a call of a person shot. When they arrived, officers found the victim lying face down in a parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

BPD said a preliminary investigation suggests there were “multiple people” in the area when the shooting occurred.

Police say no one is currently in custody.
