Leeds United are said to be tracking South African defender Khuliso Mudau this summer, with the 29-year-old also attracting the attention of Burnley while playing for Mamelodi Sundowns.

Leeds’ transfer business this summer will need to cover a lot of bases for Daniel Farke after their play-off final mess.

A rebuild is on the cards, with several positions requiring investment and focus on the market, including both sides of the back four.

Leeds are interested in South Africa’s Khuliso Mudau

A report from South African outlet SNL24 said Leeds are the latest Championship side to take an interest in 29-year-old right-back Khuliso Mudau.

The defender was previously on the radar of recently relegated Burnley, with one of two inquiries for his services reportedly coming from Elland Road.

Also mentioned in the report are Ligue 1 outfit RC Lens, who have now appointed Will Still as their new manager.

Happy to have Aaronson back?

What is also being shared is that Leeds have sent scouts to attend “several” of Mudau’s games to get a closer look at him.

He was a key part of the Bafana Bafana side that finished third in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, starting all seven games of their solid campaign.

Leeds need cover at right back and Mudau could provide that

Even with Sam Byram renewed for another year, Leeds could do with more cover at right-back and left-back.

In signing Mudau, Leeds could find themselves a smart pickup to add depth at full-back, which would be a massive improvement for 24/25.

Farke’s full-back positions are vital to the way he wants to play, so he should focus heavily on making them as strong as possible this summer.
