A 60-year-old motorcyclist has been injured in a ‘serious’ crash near Melton

A motorcyclist is in hospital after a ‘serious’ crash near Melton. The man, who is in his 60s, was injured when he got off the green Kawasaki motorcycle he was riding in Crown Hill, Great Dalby.

The incident, which did not involve any other vehicles, happened shortly after 4.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, June 11), police said. The force described the crash as “serious” but the extent of the man’s injuries was not disclosed.




Police said he was taken to the hospital, where he remained. Investigations into the accident are ongoing.

Police have asked anyone with information or dashcam footage from the time of the incident to speak to them as soon as possible. The motorcyclist was traveling in the direction of Melton when the eruption occurred.

PC Ellise Timmins, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “Our inquiries to understand the circumstances of what happened are ongoing and I would urge any drivers who were in the area and have footage of dashboard to present itself. I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who captured or saw the collision or the motorcycle before it happened.

“Anything you can offer would help.” Anyone with information should call Leicestershire Police on 101, quoting incident 448 of June 11. Alternatively, provide information on the force’s website.
