Holbeck Charity brings snacks to Cross Flatts Park

People Matters, a Holbeck-based charity and social work organization, headed to Cross Flatts parkrun on Saturday (8 June 2024) to raise money and awareness for the organisation.

It was the first time we’ve run an event like this and we had many of our members, volunteers and staff take part in the event to crush a 5K run – all before breakfast!

The organization has been providing support and services to adults and young people with learning disabilities and/or who have autism in and around Leeds since 2002. They offer a whole range of holistic services including 1-1, social employment support groups and support groups well-being, to enable people who are disadvantaged by disability to live their lives as they want by creating opportunities and experiences.

People Matters also has a micro social enterprise called Nourishing People within the organization that develops and sells healthy snacks to local people and businesses, all run by our members. Some of the tasty snacks were also on sale at the event. If you would like to support the charity or find out more about them, please get in touch [email protected] or call (0113) 234 6896.

South Leeds Life is published by a not-for-profit social enterprise. We keep our costs as low as possible, but have been affected by increases in printing costs for our monthly newspaper, which have doubled over the past two years.
