The fatal accident victim was on his way to the Take That concert

A pedestrian who died after a collision with a car was on his way to a Take That concert, police said.

Avon and Somerset Police were called at around 5.30pm BST on Sunday to the incident on the A370 Brunel Way, near Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium.

The female victim was transported to the hospital, but died from her injuries.

The BBC approached representatives of Take That, who confirmed that the band had contacted the victim’s family privately.

A sixty-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired by drugs, and was released under investigation.

The pop group were playing at the stadium – home to Bristol City FC and Bristol Bears – as part of a national tour.

Police said the victim’s family have been informed and are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.
